From Local Climate Stress in China to Global Gas-Market Risk: Evidence for a Missing Channel in the Social Cost of Carbon

Standard social-cost-of-carbon estimates treat climate damages as largely local. This paper shows that localized climate stress in China propagates into global natural gas markets, and argues that this represents a channel missing from conventional damage accounting.
